Google Camera Port Hub: Get the best GCam APK for Samsung, Xiaomi, Redmi, and other phones!

Google Camera and its post-processing algorithms undoubtedly changed the game in terms of what we expect from smartphone cameras, elevating the Google Pixels to some of the best Android phones you can buy for the camera. That’s the exact reason why Google Camera ports are so highly requested for non-Google devices. With the appropriate ported Google Camera app, you can use Google’s superior HDR+ optimization as well as their Portrait Mode on virtually any smartphone that supports the Camera2API.

Navigate this article:

Google Camera on the Google Pixel 6a

How to install and use Google Camera Port

  1. Make sure your device supports the Camera2 API. Here’s our guide on how to check if your Android device supports Camera2 API.
    • Besides the Camera2 API, Google Camera also requires Google Play Services to run. The app will crash if you try to run it on a phone without Google Apps. You can, however, use MicroG or Gcam Services Provider to spoof Google’s proprietary libraries.
  2. Download the most compatible APK file of the ported Google Camera from the next section and install it.
    • Either use one of the suggested versions for your device or pick one of the generic mods.
    • You may need to install additional XML configuration files.
  3. Restart the app.
  4. Success!

List of devices that have known working Google Camera Ports

This article lists devices from various OEMs that have at least one working Google Camera Port. We tried to find the most  stable and user-endorsed versions. There may be “better” versions available, but the ports listed here should work for most people. If you think a device is missing or a link should be updated, let us know in the comments section below.

Note that the devices listed below are sorted alphabetically for their name. Some of the linked threads may not be from the corresponding device forum. This is not a mistake, as many of the ports work on multiple devices. We simply linked to a thread where you can download the APK(s) as well as the configuration files.

LineageOS 19 is now available for the Motorola Edge 30, Edge 20 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro, and more

After extending LineageOS 19 support to four Xiaomi devices, the Motorola Edge 20, Google ADT-3, and Dynalink 4K Box last month, the LineageOS team has now added five more devices to the build roster. The Motorola Edge 30, Edge 20 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi Mix 2S are the latest devices to make it to the list. If you own one of these devices, you can now install the Android 12-based custom ROM by following the links below.

The following table includes links to the LineageOS Wiki for the devices mentioned above, along with links to their XDA forum pages. You can download LineageOS 19 from the Wiki link for your device and install it by following the instructions provided on the page.

Note: Some of the Wiki links provided above are yet to go live. Check back in some time to download LineageOS 19.

You’ll have to unlock your device’s bootloader and set up a custom recovery to install LineageOS 19. If you’re not sure how to go about that, you can follow the steps provided in our how to install a custom ROM and how to install TWRP guides. Once you’ve got that set up, follow the installation instructions on your device’s LineageOS Wiki page to flash the custom ROM.

Before you do any of that, take a backup of your data or you’ll lose it during the process. In addition, download a suitable GApps package if you wish to use Google apps on your device after flashing LineageOS 19. The ROM doesn’t come with Google apps pre-installed, but you can follow the steps provided in our how to download and install the latest GApps guide to install Google apps.

While the LineageOS team has extended LineageOS 19 support to the devices mentioned above, it has dropped the Poco M2 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max from the unified “miatoll” build. The team has also added Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z2 LTE and Xperia Tablet Z2 Wi-Fi to the LineageOS 18.1 build roster.

These are the best Apple iPhone 14 cases you can buy in 2022

Apple’s new iPhones are officially here which means it’s time to pick up some new phones and some cool cases to go with them. Yes, it’s a shame to cover the beautiful colors and finish of the new iPhone 14 with a case, but we think it’s better to be safe than sorry. No matter how tough Apple says its new iPhones are, they’re still prone to scratches, dents, or even cracks when they get scuffed or dropped. We’ve managed to round up some of the best iPhone 14 cases on the market so you can keep your new phone protected at all times.

We’ve included multiple categories in this post to make it easier for you to find the right case that suits your needs, so be sure to explore all the available options.

Top iPhone 14 cases

We have more options further down in the article, but we’d like to reiterate some of our top choices for iPhone 14 cases. These are the cases that we would consider as our top purchase options.

    Promoted

Many of us in the team have personally used the Spigen Armor lineup for its balanced approach to protection, added bulk, and overall style. The MagSafe compatibility ensures you retain access to all MagSafe accessories for your phone. If you want a clear case option, ESR Classic Kickstand is good for its smart integration of the kickstand without adding any unnecessary bulk to your overall setup. The Armorbox release from iBlason is a new lineup, and it packs in a lot of bells and whistles into your phone case, if maximum utility is the need of the hour for you.

These are the best Xposed modules in 2022: GravityBox, Pixelify, XPrivacyLua, and more!

If you just recently picked up Android modding, then you probably don’t really know about the Xposed Framework. With root access, the framework hooks into ART (the Android runtime) and lets add-ons, called Xposed modules, execute their own methods before, during, or in place of the original methods of the target application. As a result, you can customize the way your phone looks and how it behaves without installing a custom ROM.

While Xposed is not the hot topic in the Android modding scene as it once used to be, a lot of users still love it. The framework opens up your phone to a huge selection of granular customizations. If you’re getting started or need some fresh Xposed mods, we’ve got a great list for you. Feel free to add your comments and suggestions in the comments section at the bottom of this article.

Navigate this article:

Working principle of an Xposed module

Back in the day, before Magisk became a thing, Xposed was designed to replace a few core parts of the Android OS to enable usermode hooking. Thanks to the open source nature of the original project, third-party developers took it upon themselves to rewrite the Xposed Framework as a Magisk module. This means Xposed can now be systemless on modern Android platforms.

EdXposed and LSPosed are two of the most popular forks of the legacy Xposed Framework that are compatible with latest Android releases. In case you don’t want to root your device, you can still use some Xposed modules though the VirtualXposed project, but your mileage may vary. Take a look at the linked threads to know more about the setup instructions.

As we’ve mentioned, Xposed itself merely provides an interface, through which add-ons (aka Xposed modules) can dynamically hook into the execution routine of other apps and modify the outcome on the fly. Some modules have apps that allow you to tweak settings and customize various parameters. Other modules will simply apply the tweak with no extras.

Best Xposed modules

The total number of Xposed modules out there is much larger than that of Magisk’s, but many of them aren’t maintained anymore. Moreover, due to the rapid evolution of Android as an operating system, some modules have become redundant over time, hence they are no longer compatible with modern Android versions. With all that in mind, let’s learn a little more about the best ones.

Note: In this article, we will only be covering a handful of Xposed modules that are still popular among the modding community. This does not serve as an endorsement of those modules, nor are we suggesting that the work of others should be ignored. Please visit the XDA sub-forum for Xposed Framework and third-party sources to see if there are alternate (and possibly more versatile) modules available.

How to install an Xposed module?

When it comes to distributing an Xposed module, maintainers generally offer the compiled version in the form of a regular APK file. You can find some Xposed modules on the Google Play Store, while others can be downloaded directly from the Releases section of the corresponding GitHub repository. Moreover, LSPosed developers offer a centralized module repository (which is the spiritual successor to the original Xposed Module Repository), through which one can download as well as update the modules.

LSPosed module download

Downloading a Xposed module through LSPosed Module Repository

Since an Xposed module is nothing but a standard APK file, you can manually install it using ADB, or by following our Android apps sideloading guide. In case you’re planning to grab them from a module repository, make sure to follow the on-screen instructions carefully to perform the installation.

Xposed used to be one of XDA’s favorite modifications, and you can still do a lot of interesting things with its modules. If you’ve been waiting to expand your current ROM’s functionality and reclaim the features you lost through Xposed Framework, make sure to head to the aforementioned forum threads to experiment and discuss — just remember to be careful and use the search button beforehand for good measure.
