Google Play system update for April 2022 brings new features for Play Pass and Play Points, bug fixes and more

Google has become more transparent about the Google Play system updates. Earlier this year, the company set up a dedicated page to disclose various features and improvements in each monthly system update. Google usually details and releases new updates at the start of each month. But this time around, we’re getting a sneak peek at the upcoming April update.

Google has updated the Google Play support page to reflect changes in the April 2022 Play system update. In terms of features and improvements, we do not see tons of new changes here. As per the changelog, the update brings new features for Play Pass and Play Points programs as well as new ways to discover apps and games.

The latest update also includes bug fixes for security, privacy, system management, and diagnostics-related services.

Here’s the full changelog for the Google Play system update for April 2022:

The Google Play April 2022 system update will start rolling out to Android phones, tablets, Android TV, and Google TV devices starting April 1. Bug fixes and updates to system management services will be delivered with Google Play services v22.12. Meanwhile, other improvements such as new Play Pass and Play Points features, enhancements to Google Play Billing, and performance optimizations will arrive as part of Google Play Store v29.9.

The best chargers for the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 in 2022

The HP Elite Dragonfly G3 is a powerful business laptop that’s easy to take anywhere due to its lightweight design. It also comes with up to a 68Whr battery to keep you going during long trips. But no matter how long it lasts, you’ll have to charge the battery at some point. Those are some of the best chargers you can get for your HP Elite Dragonfly G3. Suffice it to say, you can’t really go wrong with the official HP travel adapter, but the other options are very suitable, too. I’d probably want the Belkin 108W charger for when I’m traveling so it takes up less space, but you might prefer something else. Even when you plug in other devices, it charges your laptop at up to 65W, so that’s a big deal.

These are the Best iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 Mini Deals: Where to buy the Apple iPhone 13?

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are here. The phones are an incremental upgrade over the iPhone 12 series and are powered by Apple’s new A15 Bionic chip. The company is releasing the two phones in six color options and three storage variants. It’s also ditched the 64GB model, and instead, the 128GB model will now act as the base version. In addition, you’ll be able to order the iPhone 13 and the 13 Mini in 256GB and 512GB models.
As always, you can buy the new iPhones in unlocked as well as carrier-locked variants. While the Apple online store is carrying the unlocked iPhone 13, the carrier-locked variants are available via the Apple website, carrier websites, Best Buy, and Amazon.

Samsung Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A13 4G launched in India with a 50MP primary camera and 5,000mAh battery

After launching the Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A13 4G in the US earlier this month, Samsung has finally brought its latest affordable smartphones to India. Both phones are now officially available in the country and compete directly against the budget-friendly offerings of Xiaomi and Realme in the budget segment. The Galaxy A23 is a follow-up to the Galaxy A22, while the Galaxy A13 4G replaces last year’s Galaxy A12, which was reportedly the most popular smartphone in 2021.

Galaxy A23 and Galaxy A13 4G Indian pricing

The Galaxy A23 in India starts at ₹19,499 (~$256) and goes up to ₹20,999 for the 8GB/128GB variant. It comes in three colorways: Black, Blue, and Orange. The Galaxy A13, on the other hand, starts at ₹14,999 (~$197) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant. There’s also a 4GB/128GB model, which retails at ₹15,999, while the top model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage will set you back ₹17,499. It will be available in four colors: Black, Orange, White, and Blue. Both phones are available for purchase on Samsung.com and Flipkart.

The Galaxy A23 sports a 6.6-inch TFT FHD+ panel with a 90Hz refresh rate on the front. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, coupled with 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone features a quad camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP primary shooter, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and two 2MP depth and macro sensors. The Galaxy A23 packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 25W wired fast charging.

The Galaxy A13 4G is identical to the A23 in most areas. It has the same 6.6-inch FHD+ display (60Hz), the same quad-camera setup, and the same 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. However, it swaps the Qualcomm chip for an unspecified 0cta-core chipset (likely Exynos 850).

Both phones feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and run Android 12 out of the box with One UI 4.1 on top. Note that Samsung doesn’t include the 25W fast charger in the box with either phone.

YouTube rolls out two new features to make it easier to find credible health information

In a bid to make it easier for users to find credible health information, YouTube is rolling out two new features for health-related searches: health source information panels and health content shelves.

The health source information panel will show up on videos from authoritative sources. This serves as an indicator that the information shared in the video is credible and reliable. The panel appears between the video title and the buttons row. It features a medical cross badge and a short description conveying that the video comes from an accredited hospital or medical institute.

“We’re adding health source information panels on videos to help viewers identify videos from authoritative sources and health content shelves that more effectively highlight videos from these sources when you search for specific health topics. These context cues are aimed at helping people more easily navigate and evaluate credible health information. People will still be able to find relevant videos from a range of channels in their search results,” wrote Dr. Garth Graham, MD, Director and Global Head of Healthcare, YouTube.

Meanwhile, the health content shelve is a new section that appears at the top in health-related searches. For example, if you search the term “breast cancer,” you’ll see a new “From health sources” section at the top featuring videos from credible health sources on a vertically-scrollable feed. Users will still be able to find relevant videos from other sources, but they will appear below the health shelve.

First launched in the US last year, YouTube says it’s now expanding these features to users in India, Brazil, and Japan. The company plans to roll out the new features to other countries in the coming months.

YouTube says it used a set of principles developed by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) to identify which sources to include in these health features. It’s also working with WHO and NAM to review and validate global principles for identifying credible health sources.

OnePlus rolls out March 2022 patches to OnePlus Nord, Nord N200, and Nord N10 5G

Last week, OnePlus rolled out the March 2022 security patches to the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 9RT. The company is now giving a similar treatment to three more devices: OnePlus Nord, Nord N200, and Nord N10 5G.

The original OnePlus Nord is receiving an update to OxygenOS 11.1.10.10. It’s a minor update that improves the system stability and bumps the security patch level to March 2022. It’s rolling out in a phased manner to the Indian, global and European variants.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord N200 is also receiving a new update that brings March 2022 security patches. Besides the security fixes, however, the update doesn’t pack any new features or improvements.

Finally, the OnePlus Nord N10 5G is getting the March security update with OxygenOS 11.0.5.

After that, transfer the package to the root directly of your phone’s internal storage and flash it using the Local Upgrade method within the System Update menu.
