The Galaxy F23 sports an updated design. It swaps the square camera module of the last model for a rectangular one and the textured back for a smooth one, lending the phone a more premium look. The front is covered by a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but Samsung doesn’t specify anywhere on its website whether it’s an AMOLED panel or an LCD — we’re inclined to believe it’s an LCD panel.

Galaxy F23 in blue and green colors

Under the hood, the Galaxy F23 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor, a step up from the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC on the Galaxy F22. The chipset is paired with 4GB/6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB storage with microSD expansion support. The phone also has a heat dissipation system. Samsung calls it “Power Cool” technology, and it’s supposed to drive excessive heat away from the processor area to keep things running relatively cool during long gaming sessions and other intensive workloads.

The primary camera has been upgraded from a 48MP sensor to a new 50MP sensor. However, the 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro sensors are unchanged from the last model.

While last year’s model packed a massive 6,000mAh battery, the Galaxy F23 comes with a smaller 5,000mAh cell. The battery charges via a 25W fast charger.

Other notable highlights of the Galaxy F23 include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, face unlock, Samsung Pay support, and 5G support. On the software front, the phone runs Android 12 out of the box with One UI 4.1 on top. In addition, Samsung promises two years of OS updates and four years of security updates for the device.

Pricing & Availability

The Galaxy F23 comes in two colors — Aqua Blue and Forest Green — and will go on sale starting March 16 on Flipkart, Samsung’s website, and select retail stores. Pricing starts at ₹17,499 for the base 4GB/128GB model and goes up to ₹18,499 for the 6GB/128GB model. Samsung’s early bird offers bring the prices down to ₹14,999 and ₹15,999, respectively.

Here are all the wallpapers from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A53

In March last year, Samsung launched three new Galaxy A series devices — the Galaxy A52 4G, the Galaxy A52 5G, and the Galaxy A72. We expect the company to announce their successors around the same time this year, which means that Samsung could unveil the Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A73 in the next few weeks. Although Samsung hasn’t revealed any official details about these devices so far, recent leaks suggest that the upcoming Galaxy A53 will feature the same design as the older model with some significant upgrades on the inside. Ahead of the official announcement, we’ve managed to get our hands on the stock wallpapers that Samsung will ship with the Galaxy A53. If you’re on the lookout for some cool minimal wallpapers for your phone, you should definitely check these out.

Last minute leak suggests Apple could launch a Mac Studio, a Studio Display, and more, today

Apple’s Peek Performance event is scheduled for later today, and the rumor mills are in overdrive on what we can expect to see at this event. We’re expecting/hoping to see a 5G-enabled iPhone SE 3, the new iPad Air 5, and a Mac Mini with updated internals. But as we witnessed in the last event where the redesigned Apple Watch 7 did not arrive, Apple likes to keep things interesting and surprise people. New leaks suggest that we might see some more hardware, namely in the form of a bigger Mac Mini aka Mac Studio, a new cheaper display, and a new color variant for the iPhone 13 series.

Mac Studio

According to YouTuber Luke Miani, Apple is indeed working on and planning to release the Mac Studio at today’s event. This product occupies the same footprint as the Mac Mini, but is taller, to accommodate more powerful internals and cooling solution. Mark Gurman corroborates the leak, mentioning that the “Mac Studio (smaller Mac Pro/more powerful Mac mini) plus the new monitor running iOS are “ready to go”“.

New Apple Studio Display

Luke also mentions that Apple will also be launching a cheaper version of the Pro Display XDR, which might come in at 27-inches in size and skip out on the MiniLED tech. It will also skip out on the pattern on the back of the display, and it also skips out on the Pro Stand — but hopefully, it will not cost $5,000+. As to what it will be called, we do not know. But it might make sense to pick up the Studio branding as it launches alongside the Mac Studio, which in turn is expected as a cheaper version of the Mac Pro.

Green iPhone 13

The iPhone SE 3 isn’t the only iPhone that will be talked about today. Luke believes that Apple will also reveal a new green color for the iPhone 13 series.

Purple iPad Air 5

Apple could also be releasing the iPad Air 5 in the purple color that it launched for the iPhone 12 last year.

The event is in a few hours, so the curtains will finally be lifted. What are you expecting to see? Let us know in the comments below!

How to enable call recording on the Samsung Galaxy S22 series

Android users had to rely on third-party apps to record phone calls for the longest time. But these days, almost all Android OEMs natively offer call recording support on their devices, including Samsung. If you’ve recently purchased a Galaxy S22 series device and you’re not sure how to set up call recording on it, you’ve come to the right place. In this post, I’ll guide you through the process of recording phone calls on the Galaxy S22 series phones.

Before we continue, it’s important to note that there are laws against recording phone calls in certain regions. Make sure you follow local regulations and take permission from the other person on the line before recording phone calls. It’s also worth mentioning that the call recording feature is limited to certain regions. Therefore, you might not see the following settings on your device. If that’s the case, you’ll have to use a third-party app to record calls on your phone.

Navigate this guide:

How to enable automatic call recording on Galaxy S22 series devices

Setting up call recording on a Samsung Galaxy S22 series device is a rather straightforward affair. Just follow these steps to start recording calls on your new phone:

  • Open the Phone app from the app drawer
  • Tap on the three-dot menu button in the top right corner to open the drop-down menu.
Phone app screenshot from Galaxy S22 with purple arrow pointing at three-dot menu button
  • Tap on Settings to open the Phone app settings.

  • On the following page, tap on the Record calls option.

  • Next, tap on the toggle next to the Auto record calls option to enable the feature.

  • Then tap on the Confirm button on the Terms and Conditions pop-up.

  • Once the toggle is enabled, tap on the Auto record calls option.

  • You should now see three options — All calls, Calls with unsaved numbers, and Calls with specific numbers. Pick one of these three options based on your requirement, and you’re done.

Your Galaxy S22 series device should now start recording calls based on the option you picked in the last step. To view recorded calls, follow the steps above to head back to the Record calls option in the Phone app settings. You should see a new Recorded calls option on this page. Tap on it to view all recorded calls.

How to manually record calls on Galaxy S22 series devices

If you don’t want to set up automatic call recording for some reason, you’d be glad to know that Samsung also gives you the option to record each call manually. To record calls manually, just follow these steps:

  • Make or receive a call on your Galaxy S22 series device.

  • Tap on the three-dot menu button in the top right corner of the call screen.

  • Tap on the Record call option in the overflow menu and then tap on Confirm in the Terms and Conditions pop-up.

  • Your phone should now start recording the current call. The recording will end up in the same Recorded calls section in the Phone app settings.

If, for some reason, the feature doesn’t work as intended, you can also record calls using the Google Phone app. To do so, follow the instructions provided in our guide to recording phone calls on Android. The guide also includes detailed instructions for devices from other manufacturers, like OnePlus, OPPO, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi, along with a list of third-party apps that you can use for the same purpose.

    Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

The Galaxy S22 Plus is pretty much the same as the vanilla model, but it features a larger 6.6-inch display and a bigger 4,500mAh battery.
    Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is completely different beast, featuring a massive 6.8-inch display, a 5,000mAh battery, and a built-in S Pen.

Google Play Store to soon get new Material You buttons

Material You is Google’s latest design language for Android, Chrome OS, Wear OS, and beyond. Over the last months, we have seen Google slowly but steadily updating many of its popular apps with Material You elements. Google Play Store received a partial Material You redesign back in October, bringing a pill-shaped search bar, updated bottom navigation bar, and dynamic color theming on Android 12. Now Google is readying another redesign for the Play Store that will soon bring Material You buttons across the app.

In their recent APK teardown, 9to5Google has spotted evidence of an upcoming redesign for the Play Store. The redesign brings a new button style across the Play Store, replacing the current rectangular buttons with rounded corners with pill-shaped buttons in-line with Material You design principles.

The screenshots below show how the Install, Uninstall, and Update buttons feature a pill-shaped layout.

Elsewhere, Installed, Updates available, and Games filters under the “Manage apps & device” section now use rectangular layout instead of oblong shapes. At the time being, the new buttons don’t seem to support dynamic color theming.

The new Material You button style in the Google Play Store hasn’t rolled out to users yet. We’ll keep an eye out and let you know as soon as it goes live for end users.

Google Play Store has picked up several new features and improvements over the past months, including a new Offer tab in the bottom bar, an iOS-style install progress indicator for apps, the ability to find and install Android TV and Wear OS apps right from your phone, and more. The Play Store has also started showing the minimum/required Android OS version in app listings.

Have you spotted the Material You button redesign in the Play Store? Let us know in the comments below.

Realme might offer the upcoming Realme GT Neo 3 with an 80W charging brick

Realme recently showcased its new 150W wired fast charging tech at MWC in Barcelona. Following the demonstration, the company confirmed that the new tech would debut with the upcoming Realme GT Neo 3 later this year. Although Realme didn’t reveal any further details about the device at the event, previous leaks suggest that it will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, an unspecified octa-core 2.85GHz chipset, up to 512GB storage, and 5G support. Now, we have access to a couple of more details about the device thanks to XDA Recognized Developer mlgmxyysd.

As spotted in the TENAA listings previously, Realme is prepping two variants of the Realme GT Neo 3 with the model numbers RMX3560 and RMX3562. According to mlgmxyysd, the Realme GT Neo 3 with the model number RMX3562 will feature the MediaTek MT6895 SoC. This falls in line with Realme’s announcement after the recent MediaTek Dimensity 8000 series launch, where it confirmed that the device will feature the new Dimensity 8100 SoC. We’ve also learned that the device will run Realme UI 3.0 based on ColorOS 12.1 (Android 12) out of the box with the kernel version 5.10.66.

In addition, the new leak reveals that the Realme GT Neo 3 will feature a USB 2.0 Type-C port and ship with either an 80W or a 150W charger in the box. At the moment, we’re not sure why Realme might ship the phone with an 80W charging brick when the company has already confirmed that it will offer 150W fast charging support. The most likely explanation is that Realme could offer a cheaper SKU with the 80W charger for those who would rather save some money than get the faster charging brick.

While the new leak doesn’t shed light on much else about the Realme GT Neo 3, leaked renders of the phone spotted last month suggest that it will feature a triple camera setup on the back housed in a rectangular camera island. The renders have also confirmed that the device will feature a plain back with rounded edges and Realme branding in the bottom left corner.

For now, these are all the details we have about the upcoming Realme GT Neo 3. We’ll make sure to let you know as soon as we learn more about the device.

Samsung releases kernel sources for the Galaxy S22 series

After nearly everything was leaked about Samsung’s 2022 flagships, the Galaxy S22 series was finally made official last month. The phones represent the best of what the Korean OEM has to offer this year at different price ranges. We reviewed the Galaxy S22 Ultra with 12GB RAM, which offers truly massive potential for whatever use cases you can think of. With the gradual rise in availability, we were bound to see aftermarket development work and custom modifications start to pick up for the device trio. As expected, Samsung has now released the kernel sources for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 family is powered by the company’s in-house Exynos 2200 chip in Europe and a handful of Asian countries. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant, on the other hand, is available in North America, Latin America, Africa, Oceania, and most of the Asian regions including India. Just like any other Android device release, the company must release its kernel source code in order to comply with the GPLv2 license that the Linux kernel is under. Samsung has done that, but only for the Exynos variants so far.

If you’re a developer, you can now head over to the Samsung Open Source Release Center and access the kernel source code for the Exynos models of the Galaxy S22 (SM-S901B), Galaxy S22 Plus (SM-S906B), and Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908B). The initial release is based on the software version S90xBXXU1AVA7 (AVA8 for the regular Galaxy S22).

Samsung Gallaxy S22 Exynos kernel sources

Due to the fact that the Galaxy S22 shipped with One UI 4.1 out of the box, the kernel sources are based on Android 12. While there are individual releases for each model, it is technically possible to create SoC-specific unified trees by combining the relevant packages.

    Samsung Galaxy S22

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is the entry flagship for 2022, bringing over top of the line performance and camera capabilities in a form that fits many pockets and budgets.
    Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus offers a good mixture of reliable performance and great features packed in a premium body.
    Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra combines the best of the S and Note series for a powerful beast of a machine that excels for work and play.

With kernel source code availability, developers can start porting the popular TWRP custom recovery, develop custom kernels, and release custom ROMs for the aforementioned devices. However, such mods are only useful if the device’s bootloader is unlockable, which sadly is not the case for some of the Snapdragon-powered models. You can still check out the model-specific XDA forums to keep an eye out on the development scene.
